Kargil, Sept 14: The Special Cell for Women Kargil today organized an awareness program at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kargil.
The event featured Zakir Zahak, a resource person from Ashoka University, who addressed the pressing issue of gender-based discrimination through his presentation titled, “In her Shoes: Understanding Gender-based Discrimination.”
The initiative was specifically designed to educate young boys about the prevailing gender issues in Kargil. Zakir delved into topics such as toxic masculinity, the deep-rooted patriarchy, and prevalent gender stereotypes, emphasizing their profound impact on both girls and women.
A standout moment from the lecture was the exploration of how patriarchy affects men, often an overlooked aspect of the discourse.
In addition to his talk, he showcased videos on gender issues, urging students to recognize and address these concerns within the community.
