Leh, Sept 05: Taking strong exception to the recent incident of illegal conversion of a Buddhist girl into Islam by a Muslim man, the Ladakh Buddhist Association on Tuesday called for a Bandh in the entire Ladakh region.
The Ladakh Buddhist Association in a letter issued stated that the association has decided to hold a mass rally on September 6, 2023 to protest against the forced conversion of a Buddhist woman.
“LBA has decided to call for a complete Ladakh Bandh on Wednesday September 6, 2023 against the forced conversion of Buddhist women therefore all the business establishments throughout Ladakh shall remain closed on the given date”, reads the letter addressed to the president Merchant Association, Leh.
Worthy to mention here that the Ladakh unit of BJP has already expelled the party’s vice president after his son eloped with a Buddhist girl, claiming that the marriage has “jeopardised” the region’s communal harmony.
The LBA had threatened to create a stir in the region if the forced conversion of the Buddhist girl to Islam was not stopped and necessary action was not taken against the Muslim man.
