Leh, Sept 04: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson presided over the closing ceremony of the 3rd edition of the Nubra Archery Tournament and Nubra Women’s Archery Workshop held from 29th August- 3rd September at Taksha village in Nubra sub-division, in the presence of Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk.

Councillor, Panamik, Tsering Sangdup; Councillor, Kyagar, Rigzin Lhundup; SDM Nubra, Dorjey Gyaltson; Tehsildar Diskit, Tashi Jorgais; Chairperson BDC Panamik; Army officers; sub-divisional officers, Incharge Hargam Police Post; concerned stakeholders; PRI members, and a number of villagers from Taksha and surrounding villagers attended the event.

The event was organised by the Sports and the Cultural Welfare Society, Taksha in collaboration with the Archery Association of Ladakh and supported by LAHDC Leh and Councillor Panamik, Tsering Sangdup.

Addressing the gathering, CEC Tashi Gyalson lauded the efforts of the organisers led by Panamik Councillor Sangdup for dedicatedly organising the Archery tournament and Women’s Archery workshop for the third consecutive year, with the vision of welfare and benefit for the youths of Nubra and their future. He also appreciated the enthusiasm and the spirit of the participating students/children in archery and other sports like Ice Climbing and Rock Climbing organised in Nubra.

Highlighting the developmental strides achieved by Ladakh as a new UT as per its peoples’ dreams and aspirations, CEC Gyalson also mentioned the opportunities and development in the field of sports enabled as a result of the new UT, providing a new identity to Ladakh along with resources to prosper itself.

Archery demonstration by the women workshop attendees, a variety of cultural and musical performances by different cultural groups, school students, and the talented Dune Kids Hunder were the highlight of the event.

A prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the archery tournament by the dignitaries was also a part of the closing ceremony.
