Leh:- The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier BD Mishra (Retd), held a meeting with public representatives at Conference Hall, Government Higher Secondary School, in Bogdang.

The HLG was accorded a grand welcome by students and villagers of Bogdang.  Chairperson, Block Development Council, Turtuk, Shri Ghulam Haider welcomed the guests and apprised the HLG of various issues of the village, viz. Granting Block and Naibat status for Bogdang, upgradation of PHC Bogdang; sanction Govt Degree College for Bogdang; issuance of ALC certificate for people from Bogdang; sanctioning of funds for construction of irrigation khul at Changmar and early completion of Chulungka and Bogdang mini-hydel projects.

The HLG stated that the Administration is committed to developing  every village of Ladakh. He directed DC Leh to constitute a committee and visit areas of Leh district to identify developmental project works which need to be prioritised. The HLG assured that the exercise of the rationalisation of boundaries of the wildlife sanctuaries would be completed ensure the people of their rights.

The HLG advised the youth to come up with their own business ventures and start ups and assured that assistance would be provided by the Administration. He also sought cooperation from the public to help the Administration in curbing drug menace in society. The HLG instructed DC Leh to  prioritise development work in the area. The HLG assured to fill up vacant posts in government   departments in coming days. Sharing his motto to make Ladakh Corruption and Delay-free, the HLG sought cooperation of the people for the ovetall development of the region.

EC LAHDC Leh, Shri Ghulam Mehdi expressed gratitude to the HLG for his visit to the village. He said that UT Administration is committed to developing  the Turtuk block.

The HLG along with First Lady Smt Neelam Mishra planted a sapling at Government Higher Secondary School, Bogdang under Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

On his arrival at Turtuk, the HLG was given a warm welcome by the students and villagers of Turtuk. The HLG inaugurated the National Handloom Day at Government Higher Secondary School, Turtuk. The HLG and other dignitaries also visited the stalls showcasing artifacts, local food and traditional dresses. He also interacted with the artisans of the area. The HLG also chaired a meeting at Conference Hall, Government Higher Secondary School, Turtuk.

Sarpanch Turtuk, Shri Anayatullah raised several the demands, including the upgradation of PHC Turtuk to CHC; sanction Govt Degree College for Turtuk, issuance of ALC certificate, early completion of Turtuk-Hanu road, empowering Tehsildar to look into  SRO-43 cases and improving telecommunication connectivity tin unconnected areas of Turtuk.

The HLG appreciated the nationalism of the people of Turtuk and their contributions towards the nation. The HLG assured the people to look into their demands. The HLG directed DC Leh to form a team to assess the needs of the people. The HLG informed that ten girls from both districts would be sent for horse riding training under the President’s Bodyguard. The HLG   stated the educating the girls is necessary for nation building. Highlighting the Prime Minister’s slogan to educate the girls, the HLG assured to educate the girls and provide assistance for the education of girls  from the rural areas of Ladakh.

EC Shri Ghulam Mehdi welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to the HLG for his visit to the village.

The First Lady Smt Neelam Mishra distributed solar lights among the shepherds of the area purchased under CCDA of LAHDC, Leh.

A cultural dance performance was also presented by the local people of Turtuk.

En route Turtuk, the HLG visited the Thoise air base and held a meeting with Station Commander, Indian Airforce. Station Commander, Sunil Kumar Yadav apprised the HLG about the airbase situated in Thoise, Nubra. There was discussion on possibility of operation of civilian flights, provision of civilian terminal, including checking, frisking and waiting areas. The HLG directed Station Director to coordinate with Air Chief Marshall and Director of Airports Authority of India in this regard.

The HLG paid tribute to the martyrs at Shayok Axis War Memorial, 9 Post Army Unit.

Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Ghulam Mehdi; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sh. Santosh Sukhadeve, (IAS), district and sub divisional officers, BDC Chairpersons, PRI members, students and large number of villagers were present during the public meeting.

On Day 3 of his visit, the HLG held discussion with forward line army officers regarding the defence of LAC. The HLG also interacted with the soldiers deployed in the high altitude area which was a great moral booster for them.
