JAMMU: Gearing up for 2024 Parliamentary Elections, the Bhartiya Janata Party national president, J P Nadda have told the leaders from Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen the cadre at the grass root level and reach out masses with a ‘report card’ of achievements and developments taken place across the Union Territory post abrogation of Article 370.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his June 23 Jammu visit has blown the bugle of Parliamentary Elections asking people to ensure victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with 300 plus seats in 2024.

Party sources said that from Jammu and Kashmir, BJP president Ravinder Raina and Organisational Secretary, Ashok Koul and National Secretary, Narinder Singh participated in the national regional meeting chaired by J P Nadda in the national capital.

As many as 14 state BJP presidents attended the meeting, sources added.

Sources said that the national president asked the J&K BJP leaders to aggressively intensify the political activities and strengthen the cadre at the grass-root.

“The leadership have been directed that likewise Jammu region, focus on Kashmir valley as well and encourage joining of local leadership and youth irrespective of caste, colour and creed,” sources said.

They stated that the national leadership has also expressed resentment with local BJP leaders over their ‘missing connect’ with the masses on ground.

“India is celebrating nine years of PM Modi’s rule and people of Jammu and Kashmir need to know that Jammu and Kashmir is touching new heights of development and after the revocation of Article 370 and this has to be told to the people in the shape of a report card” Nadda asked them, according to sources.

Sources added that Nadda has also instructed the state BJP to make preparation for the parliamentary elections on a war footing, citing the rapid development and improvement in the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to party sources, while addressing the meeting, Nadda said that it is encouraging to see the party’s flag being hoisted vigorously in Jammu and Kashmir and large rallies being held.

“In such a situation, party leaders and workers should make better coordination and go among the people regarding the achievements of the Modi government and win their trust,” he told the BJP leaders.

Nadda also took reports about the organizational activities of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the meeting, sources said that the Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravindra Raina said that the party is continuously getting stronger for the parliamentary elections in the state, adding, “People in Jammu and Kashmir have high hopes from the BJP. In a better security environment, party leaders and workers are living up to the expectations of the people by working on the ground.”

In the meeting, they further added that the issue of strengthening the party at the booth level in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations for the elections were also discussed threadbare.

BJP’s National General Secretary B L Santosh along with many other senior leaders of the party also participated in the meeting.

According to party sources, State BJP President Ravindra Raina told how BJP is emerging as a force to be represented within the present political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir while the party activities are actively being organised.

“The party is winning the trust of the people in Jammu as well as in Kashmir. Rapid growth is meeting expectations,” he said in the meeting.

According to sources, the current security situation as well as the role of opposition political parties in the elections were also discussed in detail while Raina also informed about the organizational activities underway from district to booth level in the last few months to strengthen the BJP across the Jammu and Kashmir, and also informed about Pramukh Sammelans held for the training of workers.

Along with this, sources said that information was also shared about the door to door campaign being run at present to reach out to the people along with the activities of the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan.

Raina, who attended the party high command meeting in Delhi, will soon hold a meeting with office bearers in Jammu on his return wherein the instructions of the high command will be passed to give responsibilities to the party leaders regarding the parliamentary elections.

Notably, the J&K BJP is currently running door to door campaigns in all the districts on a large scale, which was to conclude on June 30 but has been extended till July 10.
