Srinagar: An IAF helicopter rescued two injured civilian mountaineers in the nick of time from Thajiwas Glacier on Sunday.

An Indian Air Force helicopter was pressed into action to rescue two injured civilians from Thajiwas Glacier in Kashmir’s Sonamarg area on Sunday.

According to a defence spokesperson, the two mountaineers, identified as Faisal Wani and Zeeshan Mushtaq, were spotted by ground party in inhospitable glacier where the helicopter had no landing field.

One of the civilian had suffered multiple fractures, hypothermia and other injuries.
