LEH: With less than two weeks to go for arrival of Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness Dalai Lama in Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Member of Parliament from Ladakh reviewed the ongoing construction work at Zerthang, Khaltse.
The Dalai Lama will visit the Union Territory of Ladakh for a month, beginning from July 10, and is expected to address various spiritual gatherings and visit various places of importance.
The Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh and the UT administration have already started making arrangements, with the CEC and MP undertaking a number of visits to different parts of the district to personally oversee the arrangements being made for the visit of the Tibetan spiritual leader.
In this series, Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Tuesday paid a visit to a construction site in Zerthang, Khaltse to evaluate the progress of ongoing work where the His Holiness is scheduled to deliver teachings in the month of August.
The MP meticulously inspected the construction site to ensure that the project remains on track to meet the upcoming deadline.
MP Ladakh was accompanied by Councillor, Khaltse, Lobzang Sherap; SDM Khaltse, Suhail Ahmad; Sarpanch; contractors; LBA members and officials from concerned department.
It may be mentioned that Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, Tashi Gyalson had visited Photang Geyphel-ling, the summer residence of Dalai Lama in Leh, last week.
The CEC had also visited spiritual teaching ground at Jive-Tsal, Choglamsar and Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School to review and take stock of the necessary arrangements for the Tibetan spiritual leader’s visit to Ladakh this summer.
The CEC was accompanied by President LBA, Thupstan Chhewang; President LGA, Nominated Councillor, Konchok Tsephel; President LBA Youth Wing among other officials.
During this month-long visit, the Dalai Lama will tour several areas in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Last year also, Dalai Lama had visited Ladakh for nearly a month and addressed several religious programmes. The Dalai Lama had addressed various spiritual gatherings and visited places of importance. He had also met the people from all walks of life. This year, too he is expected to address the gatherings to bless the people.
