In Jammu, LG to attend foundation laying ceremony of new HC complex

LEH: Lieutenant Governor of the union territory of Ladakh, Brigadier B D Mishra has reached Jammu, where he will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new complex of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court in Raika area on Wednesday.

The Lieutenant Governor is also slated to attend a mega meeting of All India Legal Services Authorities to be held in Srinagar on Friday.

Chief Justice of India Dr Justice D Y Chandrachud will be laying the foundation stone of new complex of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court here on Wednesday, in the presence of Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Supreme Court Judges Sanjay Kishan Koul and Pankaj Mithal, Lieutenant Governor B D Mishra and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, along with all the Judges of J&K and Ladakh High Court.

Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, even after their reorganisation in the year 2019, have a common high court, it may be mentioned.

Mishra will also attend the two-days All India Legal Services Authorities Meet being hosted by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh from June 30 at Srinagar.

This significant meeting, will also be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India in the presence of Union Law Minister along with Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha.

As many as 20 Supreme Court Judges, Chief Justices of all the High Courts of India, will participate in the meeting, which will deliberate on the progress made in the Legal Services Sector till date and chalk out future strategy.

Earlier today, Mishra arrived in Jammu and went straight to Kargil Boys Hostel at Channi Rama in Jammu, where he held an interaction with the students of Kargil studying in Jammu.

In his address, Mishra exhorted the students to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and discipline to enable them better in serving the nation, Mohammad Hassanain Rocky, President of All Ladakh Student Welfare Association Jammu informed The Earth News.

Rocky also submitted a memorandum with various demands and issues of the students.

They demanded reservation of jobs for locals in the university of Ladakh by making Ladakh Resident Certificate mandatory in the eligibility criteria, besides expressing their concerns regarding the current practice of outsourcing certain job functions by the UT administration.

They demanded establishment of comprehensive and transparent rules for gazette jobs in Ladakh Union Territory, an extensive advertising campaign to promote gazette job opportunities in Ladakh, besides timely advertisements of gazetted posts in Ladakh, allocation of national level examinations centres within the union territory, declaration of SSC results, the examination for which were held in August last year, besides admission for graduate and post graduate in academics and paramedical courses in both the private and government institutions of Jammu and Kashmir, by means of quota.

“The Lieutenant Governor listened to our demands and has assured that he will take up the matters with the concerned officials in Ladakh, as well as with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha,” Rocky informed The Earth News.
