LEH: University of Ladakh (UoL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology (GJUS&T), Hisar for having collaborations in various areas of Science & Technology.
Prof S K Mehta, Vice Chancellor, UoL and Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor, GJUS&T signed the MoU. RSS Pracharak Dr Indresh Kumar graced the ceremony as chief guest.
Dr Jagbir Singh, State Information Commissioner, Haryana and other dignitaries were also present. Prof. Ashok K. Sharma, Registrar; Dr. Riyaz M K Khan, Public Relation Officer; and Dr. Sonam Joldan, Dean Research UoL participated in the signing ceremony.
The main objective of the MoU is to coordinate and collaborate in Research and training in focused areas and jointly take up research programs and to have exchange visits of faculty and students of University of Ladakh. Prof. S. K Mehta highlighted the strength areas of university of Ladakh and fields in which both the Institutions can produce fruitful collaborations for the students of Ladakh region, personnel and officers of Indian Army. University of Ladakh already has MoU with Ladakh scouts.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Narsi Ram, said that GJUS&T, Hisar was a State University with NAAC A+ accreditation which was established on October 20, 1995 by an Act of the Legislature of the State of Haryana to facilitate and promote studies and research in emerging areas of higher education with a focus on new frontiers of technology, pharmacy, environmental studies, non-conventional sources energy and management studies and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields.
Dr. Indresh Kumar highlighted the significance of Himalayan ecology and fragile environment of the region and stressed the need to work to protect culture and heritage of Ladakh by means of collaborations with prominent R&D intuitions and Universities of the country. In the end Prof. Ashok K. Sharma presented vote of thanks.
