LEH: CEC of LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson reiterated his commitment to ensuring the parallel development of the Tibetan community residing in Ladakh, even as the Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal pledged to serve the local Tibetan community equally and ensuring the continued implementation of centrally sponsored schemes for their benefit.
The duo were speaking a symbolic thanksgiving event organised by office of the Chief Representative Officer of Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Leh to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Hill Council, Leh and the Ladakh Administration for their support in various social welfare projects benefiting the Tibetan community.
It may be mentioned that significant developmental projects implemented this year included the blacktopping of roads in Tibetan Settlement Camps number 8 and 9, installation of 96 solar street lights in all camps, TCV School, and Gonpa, provision of incentives to underprivileged families under LAHDC Leh’s Nyalbachan-la-Rogs (Housing for Poor) scheme, incentives for constructing toilets in underprivileged households under LAHDC Leh’s Nyalbachan-la-Sangchot scheme, issuance of job cards under PM MGNREGA scheme, construction of community halls, and several other community initiatives.
Tashi was the chief guest, while MP Namgyal and Executive Councillor for RDD Tashi Namgyal Yakzee were the guests of honour at the event also attended by special guests including ADDC/ACD RDD Leh Sonam Nurboo, BDO Leh Tsering Angchuk, and Tibetan officials such as Pema Sangpo, Local Justice Commissioner; Dhondup Tsering, President of Local Tibetan Assembly; Officiating CRO Sonam Choedon, and various other officials.
In his address, CEC Tashi Gyalson reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the parallel development of the Tibetan community residing in Ladakh. He shared LAHDC Leh’s vision of uplifting underprivileged sections of society and highlighted the steps taken by the Hill Council to strengthen and empower them through various social welfare schemes.
He emphasised that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every citizen should benefit from centrally sponsored schemes, including the Tibetan people residing in different parts of the country, including Ladakh. He assured the gathering of full assistance from the Hill Council, Leh and the Administration of UT Ladakh to address the issues and concerns of the local Tibetan community.
MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal stressed the need for equal development of the Tibetan community alongside other citizens of the country. He shared insights from his recent visit to all Tibetan settlement areas in Ladakh and pledged to address the raised issues appropriately. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the local Tibetan community equally and ensuring the continued implementation of centrally sponsored schemes for their benefit.
EC Tashi Yakzee congratulated the Tibetan community on benefiting from various projects and schemes. He shared Hill Council, Leh’s vision of developing all sections of Ladakhi society, including the Tibetan community. Quoting the wisdom of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, EC Tashi highlighted the blessings received from His Holiness every year and emphasised the duty to equally serve his people, who are our brothers and sisters as well.
In the end, the trio distributed job cards to beneficiaries under the PM MGNREGA scheme, ensuring 100 days of employment guarantee under the Government of India’s centrally sponsored program. They also handed over incentives under the Nyalbachan-la-Rogs (Housing for Poor) and Nyalbachan-la-Sangchot schemes to beneficiaries of the Tibetan Settlement.
Earlier in the day, MP Namgyal, and Yakzee inaugurated the newly blacktopped internal road of Tibetan Settlement Camp number 8 and 9 in Leh.
They extended their congratulations to the Tibetan community on the completion of the much-needed blacktopped roads, which will enhance connectivity and accessibility for the residents. They assured the Tibetans of continuous assistance in the future from the Hill Council, Leh, and the Ladakh Administration, with guidance and support from the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
