LEH: Sending a strong message to China, the top brass of Indian Army is likely to congregate in Leh on Thursday, which would mark the third anniversary of the deadly clashes between the Army and Chinese People’s Liberation Army in Galwan Valley in the eastern Ladakh.

While the China has been using all sort of tactics to elongate the standoff along the Line of Actual Control which began in the year 2020, India has decided to remain steadfast in its resolve and Thursday would reflect this resolve, The Earth News has learnt.

“On the third anniversary of the deadly Galwan clashes, the top brass of Army’s Northern Command will be present in Leh on Thursday,” a top source informed The Earth News.

Besides Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GoC-in-C) of the Northern Command, the corps commanders of Army’s 1, 14, 15 and 16 Corps will also be present in Leh on Thursday, he added.

Senior officers of the Northern Command will also be present.

“This congregation on the third anniversary of the Galwan clashes will send a message to our soldiers that they are supported by the leadership and will come as a huge morale booster for them,” the source said.

However, the bigger aim is to send a message to the adversary on the other side of the Line of Actual Control.

The Chinese need to be told loud and clear that India’s pursuit for ‘peace must not be seen as its weakness’, the sources informed, adding that the country has not forgotten the Galwan clashes.

“It will also act as a strong message to China that India stands strong behind its soldiers, unlike the neighbouring country, which is still to reveal the exact number of casualties it suffered at the hands of India Army in June 15 clashes,” it was added.

Another independent source informed The Earth News that a high-level meeting will also be held on Thursday during which the top brass of Army will review the overall situation on the Line of Actual Control.

“A holistic review of the approach to managing the LAC standoff in the eastern Ladakh will be taken in the meeting, while discussions would also be held on evolving the newer strategy on the matter,” he said.

This sources said that the senior officers of  Indian Air Force and ITBP would also join in, however, the same could not be verified.
