LEH: Discipline, consistent hard work and focussed attention and endless support by her teachers at school helped Atifa Zahra score 96.4% in the 12th class, and become the only position holder from the union territory of Ladakh.

Even more astounding is the fact that Atifa achieved this, without tuitions or coaching, as has become the norm in the present day, and for that, she credits her school—S P Smart School Jammu.

Atifa, who hails from a remote area of Leh district of Ladakh, scored 482 marks out of 500, achieving 10th position in the commerce stream across the union territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. She is the only position holder from Ladakh.

The results of 12th class were declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) on Friday.

“I had a strong desire to succeed. It was not only the innovative, research-backed academic model at my school, but also the key lessons of discipline and consistency taught by my teachers and mu mentors at the SP Smart School, which made it all possible,” Atifa said, while talking to The Earth News.

Atifa appeared in General English, Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics and Physical Education subjects.

Daughter of Hussain Ali, a government employee and Kherun Nissa, a housewife, Atifa recounts discipline, consistent hard work and the ability to remain focused as the key to her success.

“At school, I was taught the importance of having a clear vision and a strong will to achieve one’s goals even in trying times. I think this clarity helped me,” Atifa told this scribe, adding she clinched the top position without any private coaching classes.

“I never needed to go to any tuition. The credit for this goes to my school, S P Smart School, which has such a well-laid academic model that students would never needed any extra coaching. The regular test series and webinars held in SP Smart School helps students a lot in doubt clearance and better understanding,” she said.

“I never took my eyes off my aim and was consistent. This is a result of my school’s efforts and unflinching support from my teachers and my mentor, the chairman of the school, who personally held counselling sessions with the students and motivated us to do better,” she adds.

“While 96.4% is not bad a score, I could have done even better since there is always scope for improvement. Even the best has some room for perfection,” says Atifa.

Aiming to become a Chartered Accountant (CA), Atifa’s story is an inspiration to many aspiring students who dream of achieving great heights. She is a shining example of how hard work and perseverance can lead to success.

When asked about her motivation, Atifa credited school teachers, and her family for their constant support and encouragement. She showed gratitude for them, saying that their belief in her abilities kept her going. She also thanked her teachers for their guidance and support.

Atifa in her favourite subject Accountancy has scored 96 marks out of 100, and in Economics, she got 98 out of 100 which speaks volumes about her dedication and hard work.

Apart from being a distinction holder in her 10th class in which she has scored 87% marks, Atifa’s achievement is not just a reflection of her individual success but also a proof to the power of hard work and determination.

Her story inspires hundreds of students to pursue their dreams, no matter where they come from, besides encouraging teachers to support and guide their students to make them fly high.
