JAMMU: Controversy erupted here on Wednesday when a private college here, made an examination centre for the Common University Entrance Test-2023, denied entry to a young student for the test, notwithstanding her continuous pleadings and cries.

The incident took place at Chenab College at Kalu Chak, where the hopes of a better future and higher studies of a student were broken into smithereens. Her fault, she was only 3 minutes late for the examination, even though another student who was also running late for the exam was allowed to enter the premises and take the examination.

The girl student and her father, who accompanied her to the examination centre, kept pleading the staff of the college to let her inside, but to no gain. Half an hour later, the college gate was shut and locked by the staff, who allegedly made fun of the girl, who broke down into tears.

“The way they behaved with me was completely inhumane, with no manners,” rued the young student.

While her future has certainly being affected, what further shook the student was the misbehaviour she faced by the staff.

“I am a student of S P Smart School. I have been taught to respect others by our teachers. But what I faced too has shaken me beyond belief. They had no manners, they laughed at me,” the girl broke down.

She said that her future has been held hostage.

“Not everyone is financially strong to afford the Test. My father couldn’t afford a private college and through CUET, I was looking for a government college. My life has been spoiled now,” she said.
