Leh: Good news pours in for the adventure lovers as the Keylong Depot of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will start operating bus service on the country’s one of the longest and highest routes—Leh to Delhi–from June 2
The 1,026 km long travel will cost only Rs 1,740 to passengers and will be covered in 30 hours.
“The Leh-Delhi by road travel will be one of the adventurous routes that will cover five states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh (UT),” said an official.
He stated that three drivers and two operators of the HRTC will provide service on the route, adding, “on departure from Leh, the first driver will cover the distance upto Keylong and the second and third drivers will drive from Keylong to Bilaspur and then Bilaspur to Delhi respectively.”
“The bus operations for Leh will start as soon as The Corporation Management gets permission from the district administration that has already allowed service for Manali-Sarchu-Leh road to be opened for all vehicles from June 1 and will begin based on the favourable weather conditions,” said an official.
Notably, the bus service for Delhi-Manali-Sarchu-Leh started on June 15 last year.
“First time, the bus service will start in a record time, much before from the scheduled time,” they added and said that the fare fixed for a travel of 1,026 km from Leh to Delhi is just Rs 1,740 and the distance will be covered in 30 hours covering five important states,
“As the tourist season is in full swing, this route will be an adventure for the nature lovers especially the foreign visitors,” said an official adding that if the authorities will permit all vehicles for Leh via Sarchu from June 1, then the bus service will be start from June 2 for which all arrangements are made in advance.
On the Manali-Leh road, travelers will be greeted by beautiful views of 16,500 ft Baralacha, 15,547 ft Nakilla, 17,480 ft Tanglangla and 16, 616 ft Lachung Pass.
The bus service on this longest scenic route was stopped in September last year, which is expected to commence from June 2.
