‘LAHDC committed to strengthen sports’

LEH: The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council is working on strengthening the sports sector in the Leh district, said Chief Executive Councillor of Leh council, Tashi Gyalson.

Gyalson made these remarks as he met a delegation comprising the foreign coach Steve Marsella along with the Director of 1 Ladakh FC, Tsering Angmo which called on the CEC the previous day.

Marsella briefed the CEC regarding the 1 Ladakh FCs vision and empowering football in Ladakh which includes establishing a professional team, building a grassroots academy, the importance of creating and promoting gender equality and inclusivity in sports, cultivating football culture, etc.

He also informed CEC that 1LFC aims to be India’s cleanest, greenest football team as it is based at an altitude of 11000ft and also in one of Asia’s most fragile environment zone.

CEC Tashi Gyalson appreciated their work and further assured to assist them in every possible way.
He also informed that the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council is working on strengthening the sports sector in the Leh district

Later, CEC Gyalson also felicitated foreign coach Steve Marsella.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Gyalson and Secretary of Sports Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar conducted a joint visit to the Astro-turf Football stadium in Spituk, Leh to inspect the ongoing works at the stadium and review the progress made by the executing agencies.

The officials also engaged in discussions with the Ladakh Football Association (LFA) officials regarding the forthcoming Climate Cup Football Tournament 2023 scheduled to take place in Leh this summer.

the visit, the officials significantly emphasised the need to regulate visitors and ensure the proper maintenance of the astroturf and its surrounding track and fields. Similarly, instructions were given to the concerned officers and officials to address the concerns promptly and complete all the given tasks well on time given the conduct of the inaugural Climate Cup Football Tournament.

Chief Engineer R&B Ladakh, Joint Director Sports Ladakh, ACR Leh, SE R&B Leh, Xen R&B Division Leh, DYSSO Leh, CEO Kolohoy Sports, and Education Foundation, officials of LFA including their President, Vice President, and General Secretary, as well as various other officials, accompanied the CEC during the visit.
