LEH: Ladakh is all set to host the inaugural ‘Climate Cup 2023’ Football tournament, India’s first zero polythene, minimal waste football event featuring teams from Ladakh as well as from other national clubs, in the last week of July this year.
This was informed as Chairman and CEC of LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson in the presence of MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Secretary Sports Ladakh Ravinder Kumar, chaired a meeting to discuss the conduct of the tournament here today.
CEC Gyalson had detailed deliberations with the concerned officers and officials regarding the necessary infrastructure and arrangements required for the tournament.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring timely preparations for a successful commencement of the event which is scheduled to be held in the last week of July this year. The CEC also instructed the CEO of Kolohoy Sports and Education Foundation (KSEF) to focus on effective branding and publicity through various national platforms, ensuring widespread awareness and participation.
CEC Gyalson further added that by implementing zero polythene and minimal waste policies, the Climate Cup 2023 would provide a platform for players to exhibit their skills and also foster a sense of responsibility toward preserving our fragile environment.
The tournament would have clothing and other logistical requirements made of recycled materials.
DC Leh Shrikant Suse, Joint Director Sports Ladakh Moses Kunzang, CPO Leh Tsewang Gyaltson, DYSSO Leh Tsering Tashi, and Director KSEF/General Secretary LFA Tsering Angmo attended the meeting. CEO KSEF attended the meeting virtually.
