London, Dec 19 Adele’s Oscar-winning song “Skyfall” has trounced Sam Smith’s writing’s on the wall to be voted fans’ favourite James Bond theme tune.
The British pop star scored a huge hit with the title track from 2012 movie “Skyfall”, winning her an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a BRIT Award.
Smith became the latest artist to take on the job of recording a Bond theme, providing “Writing’s on the Wall” for this year’s spy adventure “Spectre”, but it has failed to match the popularity of Adele’s song in a public vote.
“Skyfall” topped the poll, put together by bosses at Britain’s ITV network to find Britain’s best-loved Bond theme, followed by Paul MCCartney & Wings’ “Live and Let Die” at number two.
Shirley Bassey claimed the third and fourth spot with her two 007 hits “Goldfinger” and “Diamonds are Forever” respectively, and Smith’s track rounded out the top five.
