Leh: In a major relief to the candidates shortlisted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for various posts, the Ladakh administration on Wednesday rescheduled the dates for document verification.

A number of these candidates have been stranded in Kashmir, as well as other parts of the union territory due to the closure of Srinagar-Leh National Highway due to adverse weather conditions, following which the candidates and public representatives have been urging the administration to accommodate these candidates.

On Wednesday, the administration rescheduled the document verification of these candidates by extending the date upto May 4.

The document verification of such candidates from Kargil will be held at Government Polytechnic Kargil from 2nd May to 4th May, while the document verification of candidates from Leh will be held at Government Polytechnic Leh from 2nd May to 4th May, the administration ordered.

“Pursuant to reports received from DC Kargil and DC Leh about stranded candidates due to the closure of the Srinagar-Ladakh NH and as conveyed by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the dates for Document Verification for SSC Selection Posts Exam Ladakh/2022 have been extended upto 04.05.2023,” said an official order issued in this regard by the Ladakh General Administration Department.

The stranded candidates who are unable to attend their Document Verification on the scheduled date, may attend their Document Verification before the respective Boards as per the revised schedule, it added.

In a tweet, the commissioner Secretary, GAD Department, Ajeet Kumar Sahu asked candidates to upload your Resident Certificate (RC) to avoid rejection.

“Attention #SSCSelectionPosts #Ladakh2023 candidates! Don’t forget to upload your Resident Certificate(RC) as required in para 5 of Advertisement notification before 28.04.2023 to avoid rejection. Login to your account now to complete the process. #recruitment,” he wrote on twitter.

The Srinagar-Kargil-Leh road remained closed for the 10th consecutive day on Wednesday following snowfall and snow avalanches along the Zojila Pass.

The Srinagar-Kargil road was closed on April 17 owing to fresh snowfall and avalanches that buried several vehicles. A large number of vehicles have been stranded in the Sonamarg area since the road was closed. Notably, due to the snow slide, some trucks rolled down the road and suffered minor injuries, which prompted the authorities to close the road.
