Jammu: Ahead of the final trial run for North India’s largest Jambu Zoo scheduled for April 26 before its opening, the experts from Chandigarh are training the staff and officials of Manda Zoo of handling various operations including the battery car service that has been introduced for the first time.
The animal and bird lovers will soon have a gala time at the zoo as the department has roped in ten battery cars for a ride inside the Jambu zoo.
“The visitors will get a chance to reach close to the enclosures of animals and birds while having a ride in the battery car that will drop them at the main gate after a jungle ride,” said an official.
He added that the Wildlife Department is also finalizing all the preparations arrangements vis-a-vis safety of the tourists, adding, “all preparations are in place and the final trial run of the ambitious project will be performed on April 26 at Khanpur in Nagrota.”
He added that the all-weather 10 battery cars that have already reached the zoo, have a seating capacity of four to eight people and along with selfie points, paintings, mural art related to animals and nature is being showcased on the walls.
He added that a glimpse of Dogra culture will also be seen separately in the art form, adding the official said, “apart from appointing 18 employees at Jambu Zoo, employees have also been outsourced.”
The Chandigarh team is training the local animal keepers and arrangements are being made for the ticketing to the tourists, they said.
He further added that the trial run of Jambu Zoo will be done on April 26 and the experts from Chandigarh are training the animal keepers at Manda Zoo so that they do not face any problem after the opening of North India’s Largest Zoo.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on March 11 during his visit to the Zoo had said that ‘Jambu Zoo’—one of the biggest in North India will be thrown open for the public next month.
The zoo is coming up in the total area of 163.40 Ha and will have an Orientation Centre, Aviary, Leopard Enclosure, Tiger Enclosures, View Points, Sambar Enclosure, Black Deer enclosure, Brown deer enclosure, parks etc.
Asiatic Lion, Royal Bengal Tiger, Black Beer, Marsh Crocodile, Black bugs will be the main attractions in Jambu Zoo and will also have reptile chambers hosting the poisonous and non-poisonous snakes.
One of the biggest in north India, the zoo will also have an open amusement theatre and park for children and will have battery operated cars and bicycles for the visitors to move around.
“The first phase of the Zoo has been established at an amount of Rs 63 crore,” said an official.
