Jammu: A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to visit Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district where five Indian Army soldiers were martyred on Thursday in a terrorist attack on a truck they were travelling in, even as the security forces have launched a massive search operation in the dense forests of the Bata-Doriya area to nab the terrorists.
A high alert has been issues in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch amid close vigil along the Line of Control, even as drones and sniffer dogs are being used to sniff out the terrorists that might be hiding in the area cordoned off.
A number of check posts have been erected at various spots, while the security forces are checking the inward and outward movement of the people from the area.
Officials informed that an NIA team will visit the site of the terror attack for inspection.
“The NIA team including a Deputy Inspector General and Superintendent of Police rank officers is expected to visit the spot later on Friday along with a team of forensic experts to collect initial details of the incident,” they said.
A Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police has already reached the spot at Bhimber Gali.
Meanwhile, officials informed that the wreath-laying ceremony of the five jawans who made supreme sacrifice in Poonch terror attack was held in Rajouri on Friday.
The martyrs belonged to the Rashtriya Rifles Unit deployed for counterterrorist operations in the area.
The Army identified the martyred soldiers as Havaldar Mandeep Singh, Lance Naik Debashish Baswal, Lance Naik Kulwant Singh, Sepoy Harkrishan Singh, and Sepoy Sewak Singh. While Baswal was from Odisha, the other four belonged to Punjab.
