Jammu: To cater the fuel requirement of Ladakh region including the armed forces and civilians for harsh winter season, today Indian Oil Corporation Limited(IOCL) officially started Advance Winter Stocking (AWS).
First fleet of tankers carrying petroleum fuel for the Ladakh region was flagged off from IOCL depot Jammu by Sardar Ajit Singh, Chairman of All J&K Transport Welfare Association, a conglomerate of all the unions of public transport and load carriers of J&K.
Every year during the month of April or May, depending upon the weather, this Advance Winter Stocking of fuel is carried out by the Oil Companies as during the harsh winter season, the main roads connecting Ladakh region remain closed so to continue uninterrupted supply of petroleum based fuel, advance fleet of POL vehicles are rushed to Ladakh.
Singh congratulated the IOCL company, transporters and drivers for their continuous effort and meeting the challenge despite the harsh weather and mountainous risky roads
Senior officers of the IOCL including LN Mohanty, Depot In charge, Amarjeet Singh, consumer head along with Sardar Ranjit Singh, President J & K Oil Tankers’ Drivers & Cleaners Union also attended the program.
