Leh: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday apportioned as many as 1221 employees to the union territory of Ladakh, an administrative arrangement between the two UTs after their split in 2019.
These include 112 employees of agriculture production department, one employee of animal sheep husbandry and fisheries department, one employee of ARI and training, four employees each of culture department and finance department, 163 employees of Food, civil supplies and CA department, 62 employees of forest, ecology and environment department, 13 employees of health and medical education department, two employees of higher education, nine employees of home department, 12 employees of horticulture department, 87 employees of industries and commerce department, 10 employees of jal shakti department, one employee of planning development and monitoring department, 107 employees of power development department, 122 employees of public works (R&B) Department, 35 employees of revenue department, 31 employees of rural development and panchayati Raj department, 331 employees of school education department, one employee of skill development department, 44 employees of social welfare department, 36 employees of tourism department, 13 employees of transport department, and three employees of youth services and sports department.
After the reorganization of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, as many as 13465 employees have been apportioned to the union territory of Ladakh on the basis of options exercised by them and as per the provisions of Jammu and Kashmir reorganization act, 2019.
The latest lot of the employees apportioned came months after Ladakh administration handed Jammu and Kashmir a list of 1286 employees for considering their apportionment to the UT of Ladakh.
During the process of verification, credentials of 1224 employees were found in order for their apportionment to the United territory of Ladakh. However, 10 out of those 1224 employees had already retired from service, leaving only 1214 in the fray.
Seven employees from Jammu and Kashmir have sought apportionment to UT of Ladakh, taking the total to 1221.
