Kargil: Calling for developing sustainable tourism infrastructure in the district, Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan on Monday stressed upon taking due care of maintenance, landscape, plantation, sanitation and proper waste management of the tourist facilities in Kargil.
Khan said this while chairing the Governing Board Meeting of Tourism Department, wherein he reviewed developmental works and new proposals for the Financial Year 2023-24 under Kargil Development Authority (KDA) and Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA).
Executive Councillor, RD, Tourism and Zanskar Affairs, Er Punchok Tashi, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve, Director Tourism, Ladakh Kunzes Angmo, Chief Executive Officer KDA, Chief Executive Officer ZDA, Executive Engineer KDA, Executive Engineer ZDA, DFO Kargil besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The CEC sought details from the officers about the progress achieved in the ongoing developmental works in the Tourism Department.
The meeting discussed management, maintenance, upgradation and renovation of assets and other activities taken up for tourism infrastructure development in Kargil and Zanskar.
Regarding Zanskar area, the meeting was informed that tourism developmental works are almost 90 percent complete which includes beautification and upgradation of historical Gompa Rantaksha, construction of multipurpose hall at Cha, Itchar, Akshow, renovation of traditional wall paintings of Abran Gompa Zanskar, besides repair and restoration of various other works.
The CEC stressed the officers for the creation of durable assets while taking due care of quality parameters to ensure effective development of tourism infrastructure to attract more tourists in the district. He asked officers to take necessary measures to outsource the available assets of the KDA and ZDA.
Various steps that need to be taken to fully functionalize the authority were discussed in the meeting. Also proposals of new works for FY 2023-24 were also presented and various developmental works under SDP, District Capex and State Sector schemes were discussed.
A powerpoint presentation was also presented that showed the achievements of tourism department Kargil from past several years.
He directed the officers to synergise their efforts so that the requisite results are achieved within the stipulated time and also to get necessary feedback about the status of works and implementation of various initiatives on the ground.
