Leh: Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare arrived in Leh on Monday.
Tomar will be visiting various locations at Ladakh during his 3-day tour of Ladakh as part of the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ for border development.
Upon his arrival, Tomar was received by Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, before the two proceeded to Raj Niwas, where Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra and Tomar discussed various developmental schemes being implemented in the UT of Ladakh.
Later in the day, Tomar met the party workers at BJP office, Leh and addressed the programme.
Many villagers from Likir and Hemis shukpachan villages of the sham region joined BJP on this occasion and were also made to take the membership of BJP, a BJP spokesman said.
“All the newly joined members have expressed their vision and reason to join BJP in large numbers today. They were welcomed with traditional scarf and party scarf and assured them to provide every possible support from all the leaders and members,” said Rinchen Wacher, General Secretary, BJP Leh.
Chairman LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson; State President BJP, Phunchok Stanzin; Executive Councillor Stanzin Chospel and the BJP Mandal Presidents and Executive Members were also present on the occasion.
