Leh: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and First Lady Neelam Mishra attended the Iftar party hosted by Anjuman Imamia Leh at Imam Bargah in Leh main market, along with other political and religious persons, and officials from all faith.
Saluting the Holy Quran at the outset, the LG expressed happiness over the participation of people from all faith at the iftar party and termed it exemplary, while emphasising the importance of brotherhood, peace and helping the needy as mentioned in Holy Quran.
Highlighting the importance of the holy month of Ramzan, the LG spoke about the five pillars of Islam, the LG said the Quran enlightens him. “The basic teachings of all religions are focused on helping the needy. All faith teaches the importance of humanity,” he said.
Stressing on the need to work on all fronts for the overall development of Ladakh, LG sought cooperation from the people of the UT and highlighted four areas which need immediate improvement including the water management, improving the green cover, protection and promotion of pashima goat and pashmina wool, and sensitising children to avoid indulgence in drugs and other substance abuse.
Informing about his plans to make Ladakh ‘Corruption and Delay Free’, the LG said that the results will be visible within a period of six months if we work sincerely to achieve the goal.
