Leh: Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has urged the Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) B D Mishra for creation of two additional councillors’ constituencies in LAHDC Leh in view of the increasing population of the town.
The MP, who met LG on Saturday, discussed in detail the issues as brought to his notice by representatives from all parts of Leh Town from Gonpa-Gangles to Skara, including four Nambardars, headed by Rigzin Chubi Mandal, President of BJP Leh town.
“The first issue is the delimitation of Councillor Constituency and the request for the creation of two more Councillors’ Constituencies for Leh town under Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, considering the increasing population of the town,” said the MP, adding that the the delimitation and creation of more wards under Municipal Committee Leh would help in effective and efficient governance of the town.
The MP sought the LG’s intervention in the restoration of Leh Tokpo Nallha, damaged by successive floods and also for the completion of the pending project of Trance Himalayan Cultural Center at Gonpa Leh, which would provide a platform for preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Leh.
Earlier in the day, the senior members along with the residents of Leh Phu-Dho- from Gangless to Skara—met JTN and apprised him of their major grievances, even as the same set of demands were also presented to Chairman LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson.
