Srinagar: During the last year, the Government of India has designated 23 individuals as militants under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and their names have been added to the Fourth Schedule of the Act.

Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs Home Nityanand Rai informed Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Among the 23 individuals designated as militants, 21 are from Kashmir and are associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al-Umar-Mujahideen / Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Al Badr, Hizb-Ul- Mujahideen (HM), The Resistance Front (TRF), Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM)- Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF), Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami (HUJI).

Two others belong to Khalistan Tiger Force and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

The question was asked to the Minister of Home Affairs, whether the Government has declared any person as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 during the last year.

(MoS) in Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai replied that 23 individuals have been designated as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 during 2022 and 2023 till date and their names have been added to the Fourth Schedule of the Act.

Those who have been designated as militants under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act include Hafiz Talha Saeed of LeT, Mohiuddin Aurangzeb Alamgir of JeM, Ali Kashif Jan of JeM, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar of Al-Umar-Mujahideen / Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.

Ashiq Ahmed Nengroo of Jaish-e-Mohammad, Sheikh Sajad of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Arjumand Gulzar Dar of Al Badr, Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo of HM, Basit Ahmed Reshi of HM, Habibullah Malik of LeT/TRF, Bashir Ahmad Peer of HM, Rafiq Nai Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen-Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF).

Zafar Iqbal of Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami/Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force, Bilal Ahmad Beigh of Jammu & Kashmir Islamic Front, Sheikh JameeI-ur-Rehman of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen, Aijaz Ahmad Ahanger of Al-Qaida, Mohammed Amin Khubaiab of LeT.

Arbaz Ahmad Mir of LeT, Dr Asif Maqbool Dar of Hizb-Ul- Mujahideen, Arshdeep Singh Gill of Khalistan Tiger Force and Harwinder Singh Sandhu of Babbar Khalsa International.
