Srinagar: A court here in Srinagar on Friday sent alleged conman Kiran Patel to 15-day judicial custody.
Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday said it arrested a man from Gujarat posing as senior official of Prime Minister’s Officer in Srinagar on March 03 and the man is currently under police custody.
CID wing of J&K Police gave information to Police about arrival of an impersonator in Kashmir.
The statement reads SSP Srinagar immediately sent a team led by SP East to Lalit hotel. “He was identified as Kiran Bhai Patel son of Juddesh Bhai Patel of Ahmadabad, who was impersonating himself as Additional Director (Strategy and campaigns) PMO New Delhi. As his replies were found suspicious, he was taken to Police Station Nishat where he admitted his crime.”
It reads 10 fake visiting cards and 2 mobile phones were seized from him.
“Based upon this, a case vide FIR No. 19/2023 U/S 419,420,467,468, 471 of IPC was registered in Police Station Nishat on 02/03/2023 and investigation was taken up. A team of SP East Srinagar, SDPO Nehru Park, SHO Nishat are leading the investigation.”
It added the accused was arrested on March 03 and is in police remand till today. “Many relevant persons have been examined in this case. Case is at initial stage of investigation. Further details of this case will be shared later on.”

Meanwhile an official said that conman Kiran Patel has been sent to 15-day judicial custody by court. He appeared before the court through video conferencing.
