New Delhi: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday offered prayers at Navagraha temple during her visit to the Poonch district.

The People’s Democratic Party Chief (PDF) was on a two-day visit to the Poonch district when she visited the temple. During her temple visit, she went around the entire temple and also offered water to the Shivling.

Meanwhile, Mufti’s temple visit was termed a “political gimmick” by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Kavinder Gupta said, “I have also just come from the temple but the news is about her (Mehbooba Mufti) because she is doing something different.”

Taking a dig at the PDP chief, he further stated that these kinds of “drama and gimmickry” are very common when the elections are near.

On the other hand, Mufti while speaking to the media about her visit said, “We live in a secular country where Ganga-jamuni tehjib exists. This temple was built by Yashpal Sharma & his son wanted me to go inside temple. After that, somebody gave me a vessel containing water, so it would have been wrong to deny it so I offered prayers.”
