Enhance MGNREGA Honorarium in J & K: AJKPC

Bandipore, 13/March/2023: Continuing its block wise program which was started on Saturday , today All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference(AJKPC) held an interactive program herein district headquarter Bandipore wherein a large number of local elected Panchayt members attended the program and welcomed the Chief guest Anil Sharma, the president of the organization in presence of other senior office holders of the AJKPC.

In the program, several issues related to PRI’s functioning were deliberated and all the participants unanimously appreciated the efforts of the AJKPC leadership in highlighting all the important issues related to Panchayats and villages before the appropriate forums.

While addressing the gathering, Anil Sharma congratulated the Panchayat members of the Kashmir division for their sincere and selfless efforts in strengthening the democracy at grass root level and serving their people within the limited resources provided by the government.

Sharma said from year 2011 to till date there is a significant change in the dealing of the J & K government with the elected rural bodies and now the government somehow appears to be sincere in considering issues concerning the PRI’s and villages.

While responding to a query raised by one the elected PRI members, the AJKPC members informed the gathering that the issue of enhancing of honorarium under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGNREGA) has already been taken with both government of India and J & K Government and if the decision is not taken at an earliest and the MGNREGA honorarium in J & K is not enhanced at par with rest of India where in some states per day Honorarium for a worker is Rs 350 to Rs 400.

Sharma assured the Panchayat members that AJKPC won’t hesitate to start agitation for this genuine demand concerning the poor workers.

The issue related to conducting biometric attendance of MGNREGA. Labours twice a day was also discussed and all the gathering urged the government to defer it till proper internet services are provided all over J & K including border and hilly areas.

 

The block wise program has been started on 11th of March and would conclude on 2nd Oct 2023 and during the period the AJKPC will hold programs in all the districts of Kashmir and Jammu division.
