Kargil, Mar 04, 2023: A meeting of various stakeholders from Kargil, including Islamia School Kargil (ISK), Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), LAHDC Kargil and representatives of LBA from Kargil, was held to review the arrangements for the celebration of Tangpay Cho-nga in Kargil.

Keeping in view the celebration of Tangpay Cho-nga by the Buddhist community of Kargil at the land allotted to Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) in Kargil Town, it was informed to the stakeholders about LBA’s plan to celebrate the festival this year also as has been done traditionally.

All the stakeholders unanimously decided that since the land is allotted to Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) in Kargil Town, the festival shall be organised as per past practice under the banner of Ladakh Buddhist Association. Keeping in mind the peace and sanctity of the occasion and the place, only LBA will organise the event.

The Buddhist community from across the world, particularly from Ladakh, are celebrating the auspicious holy month of Tangpo- the first month of the Tibetan lunar calendar which began on 21st Feb 2023.

Various celebrations are planned on the occasion of Tangpay Cho-nga which falls on 7th March.

The Kargil District Administration extended greetings and best wishes on the auspicious occasion of Tangpay Cho-nga and assured all possible assistance to the people celebrating this holy festival throughout the Kargil district.

The Administration also appealed to different stakeholders to celebrate this festival with great fervor by maintaining peace, brotherhood, good law & order among various religious communities in Ladakh.
