Kargil, March 4, 2023: District Health Society on Friday celebrated World Hearing Day at District Hospital Kargil.
Dr Munawar Hussain CMO Kargil, Dr Kacho Liaqat Ali Khan Medical Superintendent DHK, Doctors of DHK, President BHC&RC, Dr Ahmed Ali, Vice President Al Reza Healthcare Foundation, Dr Haji Mohd Ali, Dr Abdul Jalil DIO, Dr Shabir Hussain RMO, public representatives, senior citizens, tutors and students of GNM School participated in the program.
Dr Oliyath Ali, ENT Surgeon & Nodal Officer National Program for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD) gave a detailed presentation on the importance of the day and how to take care, preserve and prevent one’s hearing and early identification and treatment of hearing impairment.
He said more than 60 percent cases of hearing impairment are preventable and treatable with early identification. He stressed on the theme of World Hearing Day “Ear and Hearing care for all, Let’s make it a reality” and about the need for hearing care and rehabilitation to be included in primary health programs and train the grassroots health workers.
Dr Haji Ali assured of any assistance needed from Al Reza for achieving the goal of ear and hearing care for all.
Dr Abdul Jalil expressed his views and congratulated the team of NPPCD for organizing the day. Furthermore, Dr Ahmed Ali said that BHC&RC is already running a rehabilitation centre for the hearing impaired and providing free hearing aids. He also assured of providing any kind of assistance needed in making the program a success.
Dr Kacho Liaqat stressed on the fact that we should make aware the general public of the importance of hearing and NPPCD program so that people can take benefit from it.
Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir encouraged the team of NPPCD and asked to work hard to reduce the burden of hearing impairment in the district. He also assured of all support and guidance the team may need in this endeavour.
