Leh Feb 23: The Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Leh deputed market checking squads accompanied by Inspector Food Safety and Police department held market inspection in Leh market and its surrounding areas.
The team thoroughly checked 25 numbers of shops in Leh market and its surrounding areas out of which in 5 shops some items viz juices, butter, cold drinks etc amounting to Rs. 28,635 were found over-dated.
The enforcement team in presence of Tehsildar, Leh (Magistrate) seized the above over dated items and destroyed on-spot.
At Khaltsi, the market checking squad made surprise inspection of the general stores, restaurants/hotels, vegetable sellers, and bakeries and its surrounding areas on the direction of SDM, Khaltse, Suhail Ahmad.
The team seized some expired items, which were destroyed on the spot, and noticed the use of non-commercial cylinders in hotels. They also checked the food standards, hygiene and necessary documents.
Besides, a fine of Rs 4,300 was also recovered from the defaulters who were found guilty of violating the government notified rates.
The inspection squad was headed by Naib Tehsildar Khaltse, Mohd Yousuf; Tehsil Supply Officer, FCS &CA Department Khaltse, Tsering Angdus; Incharge Assistant Register Cooperative Khaltsi, Tashi Gyalson; Assistant Sub-Inspector Ladakh Police Khalte, Skarma Choldan; Storekeeper FCS&CA Department Khaltse, Phuntsog Namgail and BHW from health Department Khaltse, Tsewang Namgail.
