LEH, Jan 21: A one-day brainstorming session on ‘winter vegetable cultivation in Ladakh’ was organised by DIHAR-DRDO and Agriculture Department, Leh at DIHAR Campus, Leh.
The objective of the session was to seek feedback on the performance of Ladakh Greenhouse on the farmer’s field, and the scope for improvement.
The brainstorming session was attended by officers from the Agriculture Department, scientists, and researchers from DIHAR, SKUAST, and CAZRI, and progressive farmers from different villages of Leh district.
Farmers from different villages displayed their greenhouse produce such as cauliflower, broccoli, red cabbage, chilli, carrot, beetroot, turnip, and leafy vegetables which they have grown in Ladakh Greenhouse.
Agriculture Dept. and DIHAR gave a technical presentation. Also, a technical brochure ‘Polytrench Greenhouse’ was released.
Sharing about the Greenhouse, farmers added that they are earning up to Rs 1.5 lakh per greenhouse in one year.
The session was attended by Executive Councillor (Agr), LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel; Secretary (Agriculture), UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar, and Director DIHAR, Dr. OP Chaurasia.
