Leh: In the 4th National Qwankido Championship 2022 organised by Qwankido Federation of India At Talkatora Stadium New Delhi team Ladakh came out with flying colours and brought home 6 medal out of the 8 participations.
Ladakh Qwan Ki Do Association has sent 4 Boy and 5 Girls to participate in the National Event where a total of 700 athletes from 25 States participated which was the first participation of the team from UT Ladakh.
For Ladakh Shanaz Parveen and Kaneez Fatima won Gold, Mannat Fatima, Silver and Mehak Fatima, Mumtaz Ali and Mohd Said Khan won Bronze.
President, Qwan Ki Do Ladakh Shah Nawaz Habib Var Expressing his joy said that it’s the first team of Qwan Ki Do Ladakh who represented in an official event and came out with such a great result winning medals in different age categories.
He stated that Sports Sector in the UT has got a major fillip after the formation of Ladakh as a separate UT and local clubs and players now have ample opportunities to reach national and international events. Shahnawaz Var thanked the Coach Zaheer Abass Khan for producing such talented players and providing them best coaching even after the period of Covid 19 even with a little facility.
Kaneez Fatima, who won gold, said that it was a wonderful occasion for them because they had put in a lot of effort for the competition and winning the medal has showed that they have the capability to compete with the world. “We were selected 8 players for the event, and our hard work paid off because 6 of us won medals,” she added.
