Leh, Nov 16: Department of Information and Public Relations, Leh organised an interaction-cum-discussion programme on the occasion of National Press Day with the members of the media fraternity functioning in Leh district.
The program was headed by Assistant Director, Information Department, Leh Dr. Tundup Namgail. Members of all the government and private media houses, and the officials and staff of DIPR, Leh were present.
A detailed deliberation was held on various topics, including the role and functioning of the media in Ladakh as a watchdog, and the challenges and difficulties faced by the media persons/media houses.
All the members participating in the programme put forth their views, ideas, feedback, and suggestions, to be worked upon, to strengthen the existing media scenario in the district and to facilitate the media persons to ensure detailed and informed coverage.
Sharing their concerns, most of the media members stressed the need for timely and proper channelization of information regarding events and programmes with buffer/cushion time than instantaneous expectation to provide due coverage of the events/ activities.
Also, the media fraternity lauded the efforts of DIPR Leh for observing National Press Day, a first-of-a-kind, acknowledging the work of the media houses and persons.
Appreciating the hard work and dedication of the media persons, Assistant Director, DIPR, Leh assured to take up their issues and concerns with the higher authorities and expressed hope to have them resolved in the future.
