DLS Shimsha Kargil claims Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament-2022
Leh: In continuation to the Ladakh Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament 2022 which was conducted across UT of Ladakh, concluded at NDS Stadium Leh, in which thousands of spectators from all walk of life thronged the stadium to witness the final match between United Ldumra (Nubra) Leh and DLS Shimsha Kargil. DLS Shimsha Kargil won the match by 7 runs.
On the occasion, Advisor Umang Narula was the chief guest besides ADGP Ladakh Police, S S Khandare, Secretaries of UT secretariat, DIG Ladakh Police, Deputy Commissioner Leh, SSP Leh and other senior officers of Police and administration were also present.
The main purpose of organising the cricket tournament is to remember the Martyrs of Ladakh Police who had sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the integrity and sovereignty of the country and which cannot be forgotten.
It is the first ever tournament organised by Ladakh Police in which youth from sub division level had been given the equal opportunity as matches were held at sub division levels. The top two finalist of the twin district teams were called for playing the final match at Leh. More than 60 teams and around 1200 youth had participated in the entire tournament.
The chief guest and ADGP Ladakh Police distributed the trophies and prizes to the Winner and Runner-Up team and the winning team was awarded with Trophy and cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh whereas the runner up team was awarded with Trophy and cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Man of the match was awarded with Trophy and cash prize of Rs 30 thousand whereas the highest scorer and wicket taker of the match were also awarded with Trophy and cash prize of Rs 10 thousand each.
The match officials were also presented with memento as a token of appreciation for the service rendered by them during the entire tournament.
The chief guest congratulated the winning team and runner up team and appreciated the players who have shown the best talent and professionalism during the match. He also appreciated the members of Ladakh Police under the command of ADGP UT Ladakh for organising the cricket tournament in the entire region of UT Ladakh and impressed that such initiatives is paramount as a youth engagement programme and timely remembrance of martyrs is equally needed to pay homage to their supreme sacrifices. The team players were also decorated with medals.
The sports lover and general public heartily appreciated the Ladakh Police for organising the 1st ever mega cricket tournament for the youth of UT Ladakh and appreciated the endeavours undertaken by Ladakh Police in promoting sports in the region.
