Jammu Sep 22 :- The Shri Ram universal school organised a special assembly on Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birth Anniversary to commemorate the achievements of the last ruler of the erstwhile Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir.

The programme started with traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony followed by floral tributes paid to the portrait of Maharaja by the school management and the teachers.

The responsibility of Master of ceremonies was entrusted to the students of Form 8 who most humbly in line with the philosophy being practiced in the school extended a warm welcome to the invitees and the audience comprising students and teachers.

The assembly started with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra and school prayer followed by a skit wherein students showcased the stellar role of Maharaja Hari Singh during the period of his rule.

The students sang a Dogri duet which induced rhythmic clapping among the audience. The dance group of the school flaunted their graceful moves through a performance on yet another Dogri song.

Various insightful speeches and mellifluous poems in Dogri were also presented by the students. The Headmistress, Ms Shivani Vaid Sharma in her brief speech to the students reminded the students of good deeds done by the Maharaja for his people.

Col VK Sharma (Retd), Principal of the school for a change addressed the students with pride in Dogri and urged one and all present to preserve the language and use it in appropriate forums on opportune times and occasions.

Later on the school team which won the “Samba District Rugby Championship” and Adavya Gupta of Form 4 who won “Inter School Theme Based Painting Competition-The Purview” organized under the banner of ‘Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex’ were felicitated by Rajni Gupta, Managing Director of the school. She congratulated the winners and applauded the students for their performances.

The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.
