Approval has been given to confiscate assets worth Rs 4.69 crore of IAS officer Rajeev Ranjan, JKAS officer Itrat Hussain and gun license dealers. This property includes bank accounts, plot, residence. According to the information, the Enforcement Directorate had placed the property before the Adjudicating Authority New Delhi for approval, which has been approved.
It is alleged that these officers and gun dealers have made this property illegally. In the gun license case, investigation was initiated against several serving, retired bureaucrats, government officials and various gun dealers and touts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Directorate had initiated investigation in the said case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The Chandigarh Special Crime Branch of CBI had sanctioned action against the then Deputy Commissioners of Kupwara district and others.
The Directorate found in the investigation that government officials in connivance with several gun dealers and touts of Jammu and Kashmir publicly abused their position. By ignoring the rules, the norms, procedure and rules for issuing licenses have been openly flouted.
Government officials used to take money from gun dealers and touts directly in their bank accounts and in the bank accounts of their family members for issuing licenses. After investigation, the Directorate raided 11 places in Jammu and Kashmir.
Raids were conducted on IAS Rajiv Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara district, retired JKAS officer Itrat Hussain, staff of Deputy Commissioner Office, Kupwara, Gun dealer Amarnath Bhargava, Madan Mohan Bhargava, Mukesh Bhargava, Mohinder Kotwal, Swaran Singh, Dashmesh Gun dealer and Kashmir Arms Corporation. .
In this, property related documents were also recovered along with cash and gold ornaments of more than Rs 2.50 crore. Photocopies and original licenses were also found on a large scale. In April this year, the Enforcement Directorate had sought government control over the properties of these people with the Adjudicating Authority, New Delhi.
