New Delhi Sep 19 :- AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal said unnerved by his party’s rapid strides in Gujarat, BJP was going all out to “crush” AAP by implicating its MLAs in “false cases” of corruption.

Training his guns on PM Modi and BJP, Kejriwal defended AAP’s arguments in favour of “freebies.” He said BJP’s attempts to weaken AAP through “Operation Lotus” by trying to break away its MLAs in Delhi and Punjab had failed.

He was addressing AAP’s first national convention of elected representatives, where delegates adopted a resolution committing themselves to the “Make India No 1” vision. “This is not the mission of any party. People from all parties, including BJP and Congress should come together. India can lead the world, but 130 crore Indians will have to take over the reins together,” the resolution said.

The convention adopted a resolution against what it said were BJP’s attempts to destabilise its elected governments and said “those responsible for Operation Lotus are traitors to the nation. They should be charged with sedition and sentenced to life imprisonment”.

“People ask me with whom would we ally in next polls? I only know that the day we will form an alliance of 130 crore Indians, no one will stop us from becoming no. 1,” Kejriwal said. The programme saw euphoric party members shout slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as the song “Rang De Basanti chola” played in the background. The stadium was covered in yellow hues to signify “basanti”, the colour of inquilab (revolution), patriotism and new beginnings. The day was marked by speeches by senior party members, including that of Delhi’s deputy CM Manish Sisodia, MP Sanjay Singh and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. He said: “When we formed AA years ago, we didn’t know we’ll have so many elected representatives across India in such a short time and one day Delhi’s Indira Gandhi stadium will be packed with our representatives.”
