Srinagar, Aug 20:- Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s claim that Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was neither under house arrest nor detained continues to evoke strong reactions with Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti today terming it ‘bald faced lie’.
She claimed that the Government of India was simply intolerant of every contrarian opinion.
Bald faced lie. GOI is simply intolerant of every contrarian opinion. If Mirwaiz isn’t under house arrest, then he should be allowed to discharge his religious duties. Administration should walk the talk by letting him deliver next Friday’s sermon at Jama Masjid,” she tweeted.
In an interview to BBC’s Hindi service, Manoj Sinha said Mirwaiz should himself decide what he wants.
From our side, he is neither under house arrest nor arrested,” Lt Governor claimed.
Sinha’s claim evoked strong reaction from both mainstream as well as separatists on Friday.
