Jammu Aug 16 :- Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday celebrated 75th year of Independence, urging the nation to gear up for a united 100-year celebration to exhibit the true sense of diversity, communal harmony and togetherness in the country.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad flanked by working president Raman Bhalla and rank file of the party unfurled the tricolour in Jammu followed by national anthem.
Terming the day as an outcome of the sacrifices given by the freedom fighters who laid down their lives to achieve freedom to restore the dignity and honour of the nation, J&K Congress chief Mir hailed the great contributions of Congress to the freedom struggle and inclusive development of the country after independence.
“It is the Congress under first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru who took the prestige of the nation to heights while building the Nation brick by brick,” Mir said.
Mir urged the people to gear up for 100-year celebration of India’s independence “unitedly” to exhibit the diversity and harmony, which is true face of largest democracy of the world, where emotions and sentiments of all sects were being respected and their rights safeguarded as guaranteed under the constitution.
Congress leaders exchanged greetings and distributed sweets on this occasion while celebrating the 75th independence with great enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders and workers unfurled the tricolour at Srinagar Party Office and celebrated 75th year of Independence.
