Kargil Aug 16 :- Government Degree College, Drass is celebrating the country’s Independence Day with an ongoing week-long celebration from August 11 to 17.
The college host a cultural program today by the faculty incharge Dr Azram Tahoor and Assistant Professor Geology Wahida Rahman Mir under the supervision of Principal, GDC, Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abassi.
The cultural program was started by welcoming Dr Amjad Ali Abassi. He shared his views on the importance of India’s Independence.
The students from the first semester including Shakila Mehraj, Mohd Shakir and Hajira Banoo presented speeches regarding the struggle of freedom fighters, factors leading to independence and the country’s development post-Independence respectively.
Irfan Qadri, a first-semester student, presented patriotic poetry. Assistant Professor Political Science Jigmet Sangyas voluntarily sang a patriotic song for the students.
The last performance was of girls from the current semesters (I, III, V) who sang patriotic songs followed by the national anthem. Later, Wahida Rahman Mir presented the vote of thanks.
