Jammu Jul 29 :- BJP senior leader & JMC Councilor Ward No 41, Sanjay Kumar Baru and Councilor ward-40 Neelam Nargotra stressed on early concrete construction of Durga Nagar Kabir Nagar Nallah from Akhnoor road to Chaman Vihar via Durga Nagar, Wazir lane and Kabir Nagar.
Senior BJP leaders conducted extensive tour of Durga Nagar, Kabir Nagar, Colonel Colony and Wazir lane to assess the extent of damage due to the yesterday heavy rains.
Sanjay Baru stressed on the early repair and reconstruction work to provide relief to the locals as well as the commuters. He also laid stress to submit DPR for concrete construction of Nallah from Akhnoor road to Kabir Nagar and double strengthening the weak points in the containing walls, which can otherwise again be damaged due to the incessant rains and subsequent flash floods. He said that the walls of the said Nallah have broken down at different places due to frequent heavy floods in Nallah at Durga Nagar, Wazir lane, Colonel Colony and Kabir Nagar. He said that the recent heavy flood in Colonel Colony area has also taken precious life of a labourer, while his wife is still struggling for her life in hospital. He appealed LG administration to take prompt and essential measures to complete the works to save more lives that are precious.
Neelam Nargotra said that authorities must form a complete blueprint to prevent repetition of such episodes causing inconvenience to the common masses. She said that they prepare the relief estimates every year, but the concerned department fails to take prompt action. She also appealed to the LG administration to take cognizance of the matter and provide immediate relief to the affected people.
Senior officers assured both the Councilors that after immediate repair work, construction of broken bridge and all issues be taken into consideration on priority and the works will be done with the caution that nobody gets troubled.
UEED supervisor, SDRF Contractor, JMC Supervisor William Masih, Rahul Nargotra, Gaurav Gupta, Sanjeev Gupta, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Parveen Kumar, and local Residents were also present on the occasion.
