Leh, 18 July: Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Leh Shrikant Suse attended the closing ceremony of Aapda Mitra training organised by Ladakh Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with Fire and Fury Corps.
Aapda Mitra Scheme is aimed at Training Community Volunteers in Disaster Response being implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. During the training, 100 community volunteers have been given basic training in three successive batches. The whole training program is designed to impart skills to community volunteers that they would need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, enabling them to undertake basic relief and rescue tasks during emergency situations such as floods, flash-floods etc.
In his address, Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Leh stressed the importance of having basic skill sets for community members as they are first responders in case of any disaster of having basic skill sets for community members as they are first responders in case of any disaster situation. He appealed to all volunteers to make the best use of training imparted regarding disaster management techniques whenever such a situation arises and strengthen the response mechanism of the volunteers to make the best use of training imparted regarding disaster management techniques whenever such situation arises and strengthen the response mechanism which is put in place by the administration. He also appreciated Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre for conducting the whole training program in a professional and well organised manner.
Certificates along with basic rescue equipment kits were also distributed to Aapda Mitra volunteers on this occasion.
Commanding Officer, LSRC, R S Parihar; Training Battalion Commandant, Lt Col Vijay Choudhary; Stanzin Yougzeng, DDMA office Leh were also present on this occasion.
