EARTH NEWS SERVICE Jammu, Dec 17 |15: Chief Electoral Officer, Shantmanu, reviewed the progress achieved regarding voter enrolment under ongoing Special Summary Revision-2015 and preparedness for Urban Local Bodies election as well as celebration of National Voters’ Day across the district for greater electoral participation. The review meeting was organised at JKTDC Conference Hall Patnitop. District Election Officers presented a resume of additions, deletions, modifications and transposition of voters in electoral rolls. More than 1.20 Lakh voters have been added in the electoral rolls during summary revision and around 40,000 deleted on account of duplicity, death, migration etc. The district registered varying cumulative additions with Udhampur 1.9%, Rajouri 1.75%, Reasi 1.56%, Poonch 1.40%, Jammu 0.8%, Kathua 1.6%, Samba 1.25%, Doda 1.55%, Ramban 1.35% and Kishtwar 1.2%. The CEO reviewed updation of weekly monitoring, Election Format 1-8 updation, MIS , physical verification of EVMs, electoral rolls preparation of Urban Local Bodies and submission of accounts and audit certificates by the DEOs. The CEO impressed upon the DEOs and EROs for initiating bifurcation of municipal electoral rolls and ensuring polling booths coterminous with ULB wards in municipal areas. Shantmanu reviewed the elaborate arrangements made by the District Administrations for celebration of National Voters’ Day and publication of election news letter. He also called for nomination of AEROs and BLOs for state awards and district awards on NVD. The NVD will be celebrated at polling stations, Tehsils and District headquarters. Deputy Commissioners also provided information about preparedness for forthcoming elections of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats for which nodal officers have been nominated by some districts for training of manpower and material managements. Likewise all the districts were asked to complete the preparedness process. Draft publication of special summary revision of electoral rolls will be made on January 11, 2016 across the state. The DEOs were asked for error free electoral rolls of municipal areas and display of lists in public domain. DC Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DC Doda Bhupinder Kumar, DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar, DC Poonch Harun Malik, DC Ramban Bashir Ahmed Dar, Addl CEO Rishpal Singh, Asstt Commissioners Revenue, ENTs and EROs of all the districts attended the meeting. CEO PDA Rakesh Sarangal, SDM Chenani Dherendra Sharma and SDPO Vinod Sharma organised the meeting.
