Vice Chancellors Sports Festival concludes at Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K

Srinagar Jun 10 :- June;Faculty of Forestry, Benhama-Watlar, Ganderbal today concluded the Vice Chancellor’s Sports Festival and Environmental Week Celebrations. Vice Chancellor’s Sports Festival was conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, FoF in collaboration with the Dean Students Welfare, SKUAST-K Shalimar.

Prof.(Dr.) R.C. Agarwal, Dy. Director General (Education) ICAR, Govt. of India was the Chief guest and Prof. Nazir A. Ganai, Vice Chancellor of the varsity was the Guest of Honour. The Chief guest Dr R.C Agarwal wa happy to see the little kids of schools participating in the Environmental Week Celebrations and getting the awards in Photography, videography, paintings and slogan writing. All the

near by schools participated in the week long competitions which were held in the Campus. He stressed the need to organise such activities year round in order to ensure physical and mental well-being of the students.

“I congratulate the Faculty for organizing these events which are important to spread the awareness among the youth especially little kids who will become our ambassadors in future”, Prof. Nazir Ahmad said.

Vice chancellor said that we should focus on the overall development of the students, besides academics, co-curricular activities are also important. On the occasion the certificates and prizes were distributed among the successful candidates who completed the Training on Medicinal and aromatic plants under skill development program. HVC said on the occasion that now the government has not jobs for all the educated youth, it is better to start entrepreneurship and start ups in medicinal and aromatic plants.

The environmental Week was conducted by FRM headed by Prof M.A Islam and assisted by Dr Akhlaq, Dr Asif, Dr Shah Murtaza ,Dr Sabina and Dr Peerzada Ishtiaq.

The prizes and medals of Vice Chancellors Sports Festival were distributed among the winners up and runners up in the cricket, volleyball, football, carom, Table Tennis and chess.

Students were flagged off for the Mountain run by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof Nazir Ahmad. It was conducted by SWO , Dr Syed Naseem Geelani.

Dean, Prof SA Gangoo said on the occasion that we are highly thankful to our HVC who is on forefront and leading the university in each and every field. We are having difficulty in our sports field but hope it will be solved within a short span by the efforts of our HVC.

The dignitaries then visited the Field trials at the Faculty. The team was accompanied by the Dean, along with Dr Mugloo, Dr Gh Mohiudin, Dr Sofi, Dr Khursheed, Dr Vaishnu, Dr Malik and other Scientists.

Hon’ble vice chancellor was accompanied by the Director Education, Prof M .N. Khan, Dean Students welfare , Prof. M.A.A Sidiqi, Registrar, Prof T H Masoodi and OSD, Prof A.A Khan.

The program was anchored by Dr Nazir A Pala, Scientist, FoF.

Vote of thanks was given by Prof Parveiz A Khan, Head, FBU, Faculty of Forestry.
