Jammu Jun 03 :- A delegation of members of All Jammu and Kashmir Oil and LPG Tank, Truck Drivers & Cleaners Union including its president S Ranjit Singh, Surinder Singh, Devinder Singh and S Harasis Singh, all senior members of the union met Manzoor Mir, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, in presence of other filed staff members of the traffic police including local DSP and DTIs wherein during the meeting, the union delegation apprised the traffic police authorities about the issues faced by the drivers and cleaners of the Petrol/Diesel and LPG carrying vehicles at Jammu Srinagar National Highway and also in different districts of Kashmir region.
The Union president informed the SSP about the harassment met by fuel carrying vehicles during the movement of convoys at Jammu-Srinagar National Highway wherein these drivers are many a times even being roughed up.
The Union members also raised the issue of no designated halt points for these fuel carrying vehicles.
During the meeting the SSP also conceded the demand of the Union regarding free passage of Fuel Carrying tankers and LPG trucks to lower Munda in Kashmir without any restriction as it was causing lot of inconvenience to the drivers of these fuel carrying vehicles.
The Union president thanked the SSP and his staff for considering their demand of free passage to fuel laden vehicles towards lower Munda without restrictions. The Drivers’ Union also assured the traffic police authorities that they shall always cooperate with the authorities. The Traffic Police officers gave patient hearing to the delegation and assured to address their other genuine grievances also in time bound manner.
