Jammu, April 16: “Having lost their ground in Kashmir and frustrated over the action of security forces who are acting swiftly to maintain peace at all costs, militants are now trying to target innocents to create a sense of fear amongst the masses. This, however is not going to work as the alert security forces are nailing every such element who is out to spoil peace in Kashmir or is threatening innocent civilians or elected representatives”.
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri, who while condemning the killings of Panchayat members including Manzoor Ahmed Bangroo, said that fatigued militants are already on the run and their frustration becomes more visible when they resort to such selective killings. Two days ago, Satish Kumar Singh, a driver, was killed in Kulgam district where he was staying to earn his livelihood but became a victim of selective killing.
He added that by targeting panchayat members, civil society members or petty workers, terrorists are showing their coward face. Despite the recent terrorist attacks aimed at creating fear amongst the masses, our valiant soldiers stand fearless and are not going to spare the perpetrators of these killings. Raman Suri said that the Union Government is doing everything in Kashmir needed to develop the region and is also creating an atmosphere where people can progress and prosper, and such acts speak of sheer frustration on the part of those who want to keep the pot boiling for their vested interests.
Recent series of attacks on migrant workers and members of the minority community in the Valley, Raman Suri said, will be avenged and those who believe that these acts will scare anyone, must come out of illusion. This killing of Sarpanch by terrorists in a targeted attack in Baramulla district is the fourth killing of a panchayat member in Kashmir in the last six weeks, he said, adding that no one will be spared.
Raman Suri said that in recent operations by security forces, four local terrorists who had recently joined militancy were killed during an encounter in Shopian district. This is how militants are meeting their fate and days are not far when the entire Kashmir Valley will be free of militancy and peace will dawn here. The old Glory of Kashmir, where people will progress and prosper, will be restored soon and security forces are doing their job well, he said.
