Leh, Apr 14: General Secretary, Ashoka Mission, Tashi Motup, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas today.
He briefed about the medical assistance provided by Ashoka Mission in collaboration with specialist doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in Leh and Kargil. He also apprised about assistance provided by them to Ladakhi patients who go to New Delhi for medical treatment.
Tashi Motup informed about the medical camp to be conducted by a team of super specialist doctors from AIIMS New Delhi from April 24 onwards at Sonam Norboo Memorial (SNM) Hospital, Leh. He shared that the super-specialist doctors would perform surgeries, including eye and plastic surgery, knee replacement, etc.
Tashi Motup also apprised about the medical camp conducted at Zanskar and Kargil last year and their plan to conduct a medical camp in Kargil and also in remote areas such as Changthang. He also informed about the plans of doctors from AIIMS New Delhi to conduct research work to study diseases prevalent in Ladakh, especially cancer.
LG Mathur appreciated the initiatives of Ashoka Mission for facilitating the services of the best doctors in the country for the treatment of the people from Ladakh. He also assured assistance to Ashoka Mission for conducting medical camps and research works in Ladakh.
